what's she building in there?

My studding obsession continues... Began studding an old clutch that I bought and used once (I hate when I do that) to make myself more apt to choose the clutch over one of my mega bags in which I can put a whole book/lipstick/wallet in it then go back to find it and it has disappeared to the depths of never-never-land only to be found a year later. (Have you lost something lately? It's probably in my monster purse.)

I told you in an earlier post that I have recently begun knitting for the fall season. But I believe I failed to mention that I AM A KNITTING MACHINE.  What are they you ask? Ah. But what fun would it be if I told you before they are finished! Can you guess? I will give you a hint. The second one was unraveled last night as it is too wide, and re-knitted more narrow.

Singer 22 Ombre Shorts.. DIY'd

So my latest lust has been these shorts from Singer22 :
RUNWAYDREAMZ Vintage Puple Pink Ombre Studded Short
However, I cannot bring myself to pay 169$ for one pair of shorts.
So I thought I would DIY them:

AFTER BLEACHING:

AFTER DYEING:
They are wet in this picture (and a little bit grassy..) I will have to wait for them to dry to take another picture. And I also have to stud them (told you I was obsessed)

What do you think. Like/Dislike/Too 1990's??

Weekend Wonderful

Hello Ladies!
I hope you all had just a lovely weekend. I certainly did! I spent four luxurious days at the beach, swimming in the ocean and by a campfire. It was grand. Exactly what I needed to refresh my mind for the last two work weeks of the summer before I travel back to Ottawa for my last year of university.
Here are a couple of snap shots of the weekend:

Inspirational Thursday

Well Ladies, today is Friday. Well, really it's Thursday, but tomorrow I have the day off work. It is the end of Old Home Week(annual end of summer festival) here in my small city, and that means businesses shut down and we have a parade. So, I get the day off work and I am heading to the campground for three days of the best weather we have had all summer. I am thrilled.

Since I am in such a brilliant mood, and so filled with inspired ideas for DIY's, I must share what I will be up to for the next while.

Summer to Fall Transition

I have been absolutely bursting with inspiration and ideas lately. My room literally looks like a craft bomb went off. I have about 6 projects on the go, and so so many more ideas in my head (and also on my Pinterest..that website is my organizational savior. Are you on Pinterest??)

I have become a knitting queen in preparation for fall.. I am really excited for the new looks for the summer-fall transition and fall 2011. I feel as though fashion-wise, I excel in the fall. I love rich deep colors and layers, LOVE layers. There is just something wonderful about the red and yellows and rich browns. Everyone looks so wonderfully fabulous in their scarves and boots. I think fall is the most playful season, everyone is relaxed from a long summer and it is still warm enough for many outdoor activities, like taking your bike down a pathway with still lush and bright trees, or picnics along the river. Fall is also a great time to cuddle up to the one you love, on those days where it is just a bit too brisk, with some hot tea and a book.

I love the freshness of back to school, the eagerness the freshmen have to begin their university experience, the knowledge pouring out of the graduate students. Libraries filled with old books, information just waiting to be learned.

I love the fall.
What is your favorite season to style?

DIY lace bodice tutorial.

How To Make a DIY Lace Bodice.

Inspired by other bloggers, like Luanna from LeHappy I decided to make a lace bodice top.
black Steve Madden shoes - blue vintage skirt - black vintage top

Here's a step-by-step(ish) tutorial of the process!

What you're going to need:
Bra, I used the same color that  my tank was, but I suppose you could really use whatever color you like.
Lace tank top
Pins
Thread and needle (or sewing machine) I sewed by hand because the bra is a little padded and I didn't want to fight with my machine to get it finished.

Cut off straps of the tank top and of the bra.

Fold down the top of the bra so that it is rounded.

Sew the piece that attaches to the bra strap down so it remains round. (it will pinch in a little, but that's okay, the lace will cover it.)

Cut a V in the lace tank top (min was straight across to begin with) and then place where the V is in the bra.
Fold over the edges of the lace tank top over top of the edge of the bra.

(the back is just straight across)...

Sew across the top edge of your pinning and.............

VOILA! A lace bodice top.
If you were really keen you could probably sew in strips of black and insert boning.
But I didn't find it necessary since my top already fit nicely.
Cost:
Lace tank top: 2$ on sale
Bra: Old bra that I had on hand (free)
Sewing Thread/etc: Had it already (free)

Grand Total: 2$

Definitely expect this to be styled in the near future. I am loving it. It is see through/lace around my stomach but just enough that it is not inappropriate to wear in public.

DIY Daze.

So the past few days I have been ill and really not feeling like myself. Today I feel much better, and have had ample time to sort out some thoughts and ideas in my head as well as browse through DIY blogs and check out the latest fashions for the upcoming weekend.

I plan on hunkering down and getting productive this weekend! Armed with a sewing machine and a hot glue gun I will prep to bring you a new DIY next week, because I love you, and also I need to get out of this sickness funk I am in.

Here's a quick doodle while I was browsing the web. (it is clearly not finished)
